Onyx is a type of Chalcedony that occurs naturally with hidden banded parallel layers which are beautifully revealed when they are cut open.
It has been used for thousands of years and has a long history with many different civilizations. The Ancient Egyptians used Onyx in 3,000 B.C. to make pottery items and other utensils while he Ancient Roman and Greek societies used Onyx for jewelry, amulets, and carving materials. It has also been mentioned countless times in ancient records and even in the Bible!
